Local Residents Meetings - Back to Basics

What is a residents meeting?
An opportunity to influence decisions both locally and strategically.
Meetings can be both formal in terms of a traditional meeting with a chair or they can be something more informal like a resident’s gathering, coffee morning or a drop-in. Each group decides how they would like their meeting to run.

Who attends the meetings?
Any A2 residents in your local area are welcome. Your Estate Manager or Leasehold advisor, a member of the Resident Involvement Team and a representative from our Maintenance team will attend as applicable. Other community representatives you might like to meet can also be invited such as your local community police officer.

What are residents meetings for?
To help build a sense of community spirit with your neighbours, to improve your local area by working together and to help us improve the service we provide to all of our residents. The resident involvement team will give any encouragement and support for your group to achieve its objectives.

How long do they last?
The main meeting usually lasts about an hour but it depends on how many topics need to be discussed. There can also be a surgery at the start of the meeting to report any individual issues.

What days are they on and how frequently are they held?
The day and time you meet is decided by the residents’ availability. The same applies for the frequency of meetings but they tend to be held about every three months. You will receive written notice about two weeks in advance.

Is it just for my road or a wider area?
This depends on where you live. We also have wider monitoring panels for issues like maintenance and antisocial behaviour which are open to all of our residents. These are normally held in Staines at our head office.

What’s expected of me if I attend?
To agree to follow meeting etiquette including not discussing individual issues in the main meeting, respecting other residents’ opinions and following the agenda topics.

What will I get out of the meeting?
An opportunity to express your opinions and suggestions regarding your community and the services we provide.
A chance to get to know your neighbours and to meet relevant A2 staff.
An opportunity to report your individual issues at the surgery.
You’ll be able to find out more about the opportunities available for you to get more involved and access training.
